Experience the beauty of San Francisco Bay and the romance of the artistic Sausalito California houseboat community on the Ameer. This showplace houseboat is in a prime location at the end of South Forty Dock in Waldo Point Harbor, with a peace-filled view across the Bay. Watch the sun and moon rise over Tiburon and Belvedere from the Ameer’s deck. The Ameer has a rich history, having been originally built in 1920 by Carlton Philbrook. The well-known Sausalito cartoonist and historian Phil Frank and his wife lovingly restored her, carefully retaining her charm and richly crafted history. In 1983, an architect purchased the Ameer and completed a major remodel in 1998, adding a spacious lower floor and a spectacular new kitchen with bamboo floors. Now you and your friends can enjoy 3 bedrooms, plus a den/bedroom, sleeping a total of 8, with two full baths in 2,000 spacious square feet, plus a tranquil deck. On the upper floor enter the living/dining room with built-in shelves, comfortable modern furniture, original leaded-glass windows and quite simply a view as beautiful as any in the San Francisco Bay area. The up-dated kitchen with granite counters includes everything you need to cook a gourmet dinner or simple breakfasts and lunches while enjoying the wide array of fine dining in Sausalito, nearby Mill Valley, or gourmet-heaven San Francisco. Adjacent to the kitchen is a cozy “Captain’s Room” with built-in double bed, antique leaded glass bookcases, and a small television a perfect hide-away for two children or teenagers, who can look out the porthole and watch a great blue heron stand gracefully on the neighbor’s dock waiting to be fed. Two more guests will love the gracious rear bedroom furnished with antique mahogany furniture, including a double Sheraton bed, and a large walk-in closet. From its Bay window, guests can experience the tranquility of the Sausalito hills, and they can luxuriate in a hot bath in the Ameer’s original claw-foot tub, while gazing at the bay and rows of sailboats in their slips at the nearby marina. The Ameer’s lower floor has a large master bedroom with a hand-crafted four-poster, queen-size bed and matching night tables, as well as a spacious den/bedroom with cable television and DVD, beautifully furnished to include a queen-sized Comfort-Zone sleeper sofa with a thick foam mattress and a unique construction without springs for the ONLY comfortable sleeper sofa in existence. We guarantee you will love this bed. Two walk-in closets, a full laundry-room (with laundry soap provided), and a gorgeous, modern bath with glass shower, ceramic double-sinks and separate toilet complete this level.
